Muthu Nedumaran delivers talk at Mumbai IIT – on Indian & Indo Chinese scripts

Mumbai – Muthu Nedumaran, a noted Malaysian Technocrat well known for his expertise in the development of typefaces and input methods for languages of South Asia and South East Asia, delivered a talk on the subject at the prestigious Mumbai Indian Institute of Technology (Mumbai IIT) on Thursday, 8th of September 2016.

The talk was organized by the Industrial Design Center (IDC) of Mumbai IIT. Mumbai IIT is a reputed Engineering and Technology institution in India.

Muthu Nedumaran’s talk centered on contextual forms in Indic and indo-Chinese Typography. He was invited by the IDC to share his knowledge and experience in designing and developing digital typefaces for these complex scripts.

In his talk Muthu Nedumaran shared his experiences, some techniques and know-how about designing letter forms for the various scripts. He also demonstrated some of his work in Arabic, Burmese and Tamil fonts and the challenges he faced in his work.

A question-answer followed his talk where the students and faculty staff members fielded a variety of questions which resulted in a healthy and informative discussion.

Muthu Nedumaran is also the founder and chief technology architect of Murasu Systems and Selliyal Sdn Bhd. His Murasu Anjal and Sellinam apps are used by hundreds of thousands of users world wide.
