Kuala Lumpur – MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam has called on Barisan Nasional coalition leaders to put a stop on unpleasant war of words which has created unnecessary tension among grassroot leaders of BN component parties.
“Over the last few days there has been exchange of words between some leaders of Barisan National component parties. In this regard it is very unfortunate some disparaging remarks have been passed.I have met Datuk Seri Nazri this morning and expressed my unhappiness over some of those statements. While active positive political dialogue is welcomed ,we should avoid ugly situations which could be divisive to the spirit of BN. Nazri’s statement has hurt the feelings of grass root MIC leaders” Dr Subramaniam said in a press statement released today.
“It has been my stand that BN leaders should avoid such situations which will create unnecessary tension among BN component parties. We should uphold the principle of mutual respect to each other.I call upon my colleagues in MIC to maintain calm and restraint in this situation. We met and discussed this issue together this morning before the weekly cabinet meeting” Dr Subramaniam.
“We all agreed that continuous exchange of statements and counter statements will not augur well for the BN as whole. In this regard all parties agreed to stop this exchange of words and continue to work towards strengthening the BN in preparing for the next general election” Subra further stated in his press statement.
