PUTRAJAYA – Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, will undertake a Working Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 12 to 16 May 2017 at the invitation of the President of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, to attend the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Hangzhou and Beijing. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers as well as senior government officials from the relevant ministries and agencies.
Najib to meet Jack Ma

During his visit to Hangzhou, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with Mr. Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba Group. The Prime Minister will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MDEC) and Hangzhou Municipal Government and Alibaba (China) Company Limited. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib is also scheduled to receive a courtesy call from the Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province, Mr. Che Jun, who will be hosting a luncheon in honour of the Prime Minister and the Malaysian delegation.The Prime Minister’s programme in Beijing includes a courtesy call and delegation meeting with President Xi Jinping as well as a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Li Keqiang on 13 May 2017. Several Government-to-Government MoUs and document are set to be signed or exchanged. The signing and exchange of the document will be witnessed by both Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib and Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

The BRF will be held under the theme “Belt and Road: Cooperation for Common Prosperity”. The Prime Minister has been invited to share his views during the Working Luncheon and Leaders’ Roundtable on these two themes respectively; “Promote People-to-People and Cultural Exchange and “Promote Pragmatic Cooperation especially in Connectivity to Achieve Interactive Development”. A total of twenty eight (28) world leaders, including Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib, will be participating in this forum. The Prime Minister will take the opportunity to have bilateral meetings with several leaders at the sideline of the BRF to discuss on the bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interests.

The Prime Minister’s attendance at the BRF will provide an opportunity to share Malaysia’s views on the theme of the forum, especially with regard to the key issues of infrastructure development, trade promotion, financial integration and people-to-people bonds. In addition, it will provide a boost to efforts to further enhance and strengthen existing bilateral relations and economic cooperation between both countries.
