1PETALING JAYA, April 1 – Women voters and senior citizens have been reminded to be wary of certain people who allegedly will try to trick them into using indelible ink. Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil(pic) said she received reports that the opposition would create trouble during general election by exploiting the indelible ink.

“A few days before polling day, the opposition will go door-to-door to smear the voters fingers with indelible ink as demonstration.

“If the ink stays until polling day, the voters will lose their right to vote,” she told reporters after a women’s entrepreneur programme here today.

Newspaper reports today claimed that the opposition would try to teach voters use indelible ink which only disappears after one week in their efforts cause chaos during general election. She also hopes that the Election Commission could prevent the theft or leakage of indelible ink until polling day.

This is to prevent women and senior citizens from becoming victims of dirty tactics by the opposition causing them to lose their right to vote. Shahrizat said the presence of indelible ink could cause commotion at polling centres and the opposition goal to create chaos on election day would be achieved.

In KEMAMAN, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said warned the opposition not to sabotage the use of indelible ink during general election as it was made on their insistence.

“Elements of sabotage must be reported to the Election Commission (EC) for  appropriate action.”

Ahmad advised voters especially those living in rural areas not to let anybody smear their fingers with indelible ink before arriving at the polling centres.
