IPOH, June 24- The opposition demand that the Perak State Assembly Secretary disclose the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Speaker’s post is just an act.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir (photo) said the act includes allegation that BN did not send in the nomination within the prescribed period and urged the State Assembly Secretary to prove receiving it.
“It is foolish of us not to submit the name of candidate for the Speaker’s post. The opposition always manipulate things every time the assembly sits. May be they are using this as an excuse not to jump up and down in the State Assembly .”
Speaking to reporters after closing the anniversary celebration of Al-Barakah Education Center in Gugusan Manjoi here today, he said the nomination of Speaker is an important process and the state government will not do anything that has serious implication on the state administration.
Zambry said the nomination of the Speaker is a normal process required on the first day of the sitting in addition to the nomination of the Deputy Speaker.
“Just because we did not announce it (name of the candidate for the Speaker’s post) does not mean that we did not send in nomination. We knew the nomination deadline was Friday and sent it much earlier.”
On Friday, Batu Gajah Member of Parliament V.Sivakumar and Canning State Assemblyman Wong Kah Woh demanded State Assembly Secretary Rumaizi Baharin to disclose the BN candidate for the Speaker’s post.
