“The Academy Awards is instituted in the America, to recognize and appreciate movies made in their own country.

Nobody so far, have I come across, who was gunning for an Indian award of recognition and dejected because they can’t make it. Then I do not understand why this fetish for Oscars here.

nasser_01In general, we are a lot that yearns for awards. It is to be remembered that the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan has not received the award for Best Actor.

Then it does not make a point at all, whether or not the others do.

Everybody is an unparalleled individual talent. I am writing a book on acting – I have been drafting it for four years now, and it should be ready for release soon.

The book is aimed at being a good guide for the generations to come, on acting skills” he said.

Further, he recounted an incident he had with the veteran director Balachandar. “The ace director who has christened people like Rajinikanth, giving them a legendary career, had called me up once.

Balachandar said that the name Nassar is too small, and that he would like that changed. But I refused.

This is the name my parents chose for me with love, and I do not want to change it.

So I humbly turned down the offer. I always follow my heart.”
