T .Mohan Eyes For Vice President Post

Kuala Lumpur, Nov 8  – MIC youth chief Datuk T. Mohan is vying for the vice-president post in the party elections on Nov 30.

“I am standing on my own accord, based on my service to the community, party and Barisan Nasional for more than a decade and have confidence that the delegates would give me the support.

“I feel I can contribute more for the betterment of the Indian community and be a voice for their problems in the party,” he told a press conference at MIC headquarters here today.

This development brings to eight the number of leaders who have declared their intention to contest for the three vice-president posts.

They include former MIC vice-president Datuk S. Sothinathan, former MIC youth chief Datuk SA Vignesawaran, Datuk S. Balakrishan from Johor and MIC treasurer-general Datuk Jaspal Singh.

Incumbent vice preisdents Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M Saravanan and Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri S.K Devamany will defend their posts.

MIC strategic director S. Vell Paari, who is the son of former MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, has decided not to contest for the vice-president post or a central working committee (CWC) seat in the party’s polls.

Nominations for the deputy presidency, vice-presidency and 23 CWC posts are set for November 16 while the elections will be held on November 30.
