Minister’s Press Secretary laid to rest

sivam-sliderKUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — The remains of the human resources minister’s press secretary, B. Sivam, were cremated at the Kampung Tunku Crematorium in Petaling Jaya here today.

The cremation was held from noon to 3pm.

Among those who turned up to give their last respects were the minister, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, MIC Youth chief T. Mohan and Gerakan vice-president Senator A. Kohilan Pillay.

Dr Subramaniam, who was met by reporters at Sivam’s house in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, described his death as a big loss as he was a good colleague and a press secretary who did his job well.

“Condolences to his family. His passing will be felt by all. Before joining the ministry, Sivam was a Tamil writer at Radio Television Malaysia for six years,” he said.

Sivam, 35, was killed in a three-vehicle collision at 232km North-South Expressway in Melaka between Pedas and Linggi-Simpang Ampat at 8.30am yesterday.

Also killed were Hazrin Hasan, 35, who drove the ministry’s Nissan X-trail vehicle in which Sivam was travelling.

Sivam is survived by widow, Saraswathy Suhasini, 33, and two-year-old son, Tamil.
