GEORGE TOWN, March 4- Penang Wanita Umno is confident Barisan Nasional (BN) will be able to recapture the state following increasing public support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Its chief Zabariah Wahab said the increase in support from the ‘Pearl of the Orient’ folk for BN could be seen from the programmes organised by Wanita Umno.
“Many of them (voters) have realised the mistake they made in 2008 and promised to give back their support to BN. We hope this will become a reality (in the upcoming general election,” she told reporters, here, today.
Zabariah said since 2009, Penang Wanita Umno had been actively carrying out programmes for the benefit of the community, especially the grassroots, and walkabouts where it also tried to get the fence-sitters to support BN. Zabariah’s deputy, Norliza Abdul Rahim said the movement had proposed names as candidates for the uncoming general election but it was up to the party leadership to decide.
“But Penang Wanita Umno is not thinking much about this. What is more important is for us to work very hard and our election machinery ready to carry out the tasks in our respective areas to achieve victory for BN in Penang,” she said.
