MIRI, April 24 – The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has called on its senior members to come forward to help the party in the run-up to the May 5 general election.
Its publicity and information chief Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, who is also the BN candidate for the Miri parliamentary seat, said the party had realised its past mistakes and was willing to move forward as one team.
“I’m appealing to all senior party members to come forward to guide and advise us,” he told a news conference today.
Ting urged senior members to assist the party during the campaigning period and to vote for the party on May 5. Admitting that the party learnt a lesson in the 2011 state election as it suffered a humiliating defeat, Ting said, at that point of time the senior leaders were not with the members and the members were not with them.
“Most importantly, the people were also not with the party. It was never our intention to sideline them. Before many party leaders were holding ministerial posts and have to attend official functions inside and outside the country.
“The party wants to change that by ensuring party leaders are now more accessible to all, including senior members,” he added.
