Congress increases lead beyond 100, JD-S moves past BJP in Karnataka

karnatakaMay 8th- The Congress on Wednesday led the pack in Karnataka, taking possible winning leads in 100 of the nearly 200 seats as votes cast in the state election were counted.

The ruling BJP led far behind in 37 seats, election officials said. Even the Janata Dal-Secular was ahead of the BJP in four seats.

Counting trends were available in over 200 of the 223 seats for which voting took place Sunday.

The Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) of former BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa was ahead of others in 11 constituencies.

The assembly has 224 elected and one nominated members. Election took place for 223 seats as election was cancelled in one constituency after the BJP candidate died.
