“MH8100 will be ferrying Malaysian government officials and the Operation Team from Malaysian Airlines,” he said in a statement today.

Being the national carrier and a responsible corporate entity, he said Malaysia Airlines was always prepared to assist the government in ensuring Malaysians were safely back to Malaysia and away from the turmoil in Egypt.

As-Pirâmides-Cairo-Egito“Our team has been working round the clock to ensure the success of this mission and will continue to support the National Security Council (NSC) and government,” he said.

NSC is the main coordinating body for the rescue mission in Egpyt.

Among its immediate task will be determining the list of passengers to be assigned to the various mode of transportation deployed to Egypt.

Ahmad Jauhari said Malaysia Airlines is assisting NSC to facilitate the evacuation process.

In 2011, Malaysia Airlines was actively involved in a similar rescue mission of students from Cairo during an unrest.
