Kuala Lumpur, Dec 31- Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has deployed 300 of its enforcement personnel at Dataran Merdeka to ensure order among the New Year Eve revellers expected to gather there tonight, and also as a precaution against protests allegedly to topple the government.
DBKL deputy director-general (socio-economic development) Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz, when contacted by Bernama, said the DBKL enforcement personnel would monitor the situation and help avert any untoward incident.
“We will work with the police to ensure public order there,” he added.
Checks at DBKL buildings would be intensified to prevent trespassing, he said, and advised the public against getting involved in unlawful activities.
A check by Bernama saw DBKL enforcement personnel present at Dataran Merdeka as early as 8 am.
