Kuala Lumpur, Feb 19 – It is unfair of P. Waythamoorthy to blame Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for the failure of the former deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in effecting changes.
In chastising Waythamoorthy, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said he was not a team player and not effective in advocating his cause.
He said Waythamoorthy had demanded that the government budget for the Indian community be parked under his (Waythamoorthy’s) discretion as he wanted to control the money, bypassing agencies and ministries.
“When he didn’t get this, he quit and blamed the prime minister. Whenever Waythamoorthy brought matters to Najib’s attention, they were resolved,” said Khairy, who is also youth and sports minister, in his Twitter posting.
He said, even without Waythamoorthy, a former senator, the government remained committed to developing the Indian community and resolving issues such as education and poverty.
Last week, Waythamoorthy quit all his posts, claiming that the government refused to implement socio-economic changes to aid the Indian poor.
