George Town, Feb 19 – A total of 333,915 people would receive the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) in Penang from this Feb 23, said Penang Information Department director Ishak Abdullah.
He said 160,336 recipients who did not possess a bank account would receive the aid in stages from Feb 23, followed by March 2, 8 and 9.
“Aid for another 173,579 recipients will be credited directly to their bank account, with letters to all the recipients being posted to them from today,” he told reporters, here, yesterday.
He said for phase one, 2,500 recipients would be invited to receive the aid in five parliamentary areas – Kepala Batas, Tasek Gelugor, Permatang Pauh, Nibong Tebal and Balik Pulau.
Ishak said from the total number of recipients, 202,646 were from households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and below, who were eligible to receive RM650 each, while 21,438 would receive RM450 in the RM3,000-RM4,000 household income category.
Another 109,831 recipients comprising single individuals with a monthly income of less than RM2,000 would receive RM300 each, he said.
