Telegu culture, tradition well protected in Malaysia – Maglin

PETALING JAYA, March 18 – The Telegu community, despite being a minority in Malaysia, has been able to preserve their culture and mother tongue, said Deputy Minister of Information, Communications and Culture, Datuk Maglin Dennis D’ Cruz(Pic).

images (1)He said the Malaysia Telegu Association has been playing an important role in protecting the culture and tradition by organising meetings, cultural programmes, not only for the Telegu community but also for the general public.  The association has also been organising Telegu language classes for their young children which has helped to preserve the community’s culture, he told reporters after the soft launch of the Tenth Biennial World Telegu Federation Conference, here, today.

About 2,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend a three-day conference which will be held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, here starting April 12. The conference will be organised by the World Telugu Federation and the Telugu Association of Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Telugu Association of Malaysia President, Achaiah Kumar Rao said the conference among others will discuss the dying arts of Andhra Pradesh, influence of Telugu cinema and Telugu literature and its development, and an international business conferences and exhibitions will also be held.
