GEORGE TOWN, March 20 – Police are completing their investigation papers (IPs) on two separate altercations at two politics-related functions on Friday and Sunday. Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi(Pic) said in the first incident, police detained a man who was among a group of protestors representing non-governmental organisations that allegedly obstructed Batu Member of Parliament Tian Chua from leaving the Chinese Chamber of Commerce premises by attempting to bash his car.
In the second incident, police detained a man for allegedly causing a disturbance during a talk being given by Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Nordin at Sekolah Menengah Guar Perahu.
“Once we get the required information, we will refer the investigation papers to the prosecutor’s office for further action,” he told reporters here today after receiving a cash contribution of RM10,000 each from state Gerakan Wanita and Innate Synergy Sdn Bhd for the Lahad Datu Heroes Fund, here today.
Abdul Rahim advised political parties to apply for a permit before holding any talk to enable police to provide security.
“The organisers at the two functions had earlier informed police, so we were able to control the situation,” he said.
