GEORGE TOWN, March 28 – The Penang state government should not rush the RM6.3 billion mega project as it involves the people’s interest, said the Penang Malay Congress. Its president, Rahmad Isahak said the Penang government should listen to views of engineers and geologists and obtain Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval before announcing the project.

“The project should be examined prior to implementation and the people should be notified of all the details,” he told reporters here today.

Expressway (4.6km), Tanjung Bungah to Teluk Bahang (12km) and Gurney Drive to Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway (4.2km).

Recently, the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) urged the DAP-led Penang government to cancel the undersea tunnel project as it will cause losses over the long term. Its president, S.M. Mohamed Idris said the project is not the best solution
to overcome traffic congestion and urged the Penang government to study safety concerns and impact on the environment.
