29 March 2013-Director Jay Prakash is keen to sign Manisha Koirala for Market 2 after she returns from New York, where she is undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer.
“Manisha is my lucky charm. She was in my film Market and I had discussed the script ofMarket 2 with her. She liked the script. Once she is back after her treatment, I will again narrate the script to her,” he said.
Market, released in 2003, was about a woman sold to a brothel by her husband.
Manisha, 42, was operated upon in December last year in a hospital in New York. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy sessions there. Her manager Subroto Ghosh says she may return in July.
Prakash said: “Manisha is recovering well and I am in touch with her manager. I think she should be back in three to four months. I share a very good rapport with her. I have worked with her in Market andChaahat – Ek Nasha and can’t see Market 2 without her.”
Manisha, who has also worked in critically acclaimed films like Dil Se, 1942: A Love Storyand Lajja, made her Bollywood debut withSaudagar in 1991.
She was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma’sBhoot Returns.
