SINGAPORE, April 13 – Singapore is currently free from bird flu, says the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA). In a statement, AVA said it had precautionary measures in place to keep the disease out of the island.
In light of recent reports of the influenza A (H7N9) situation in eastern China, it said AVA had stepped up its monitoring and surveillance. AVA has assured the public that poultry and poultry imports sold in Singapore were safe for consumption, and that it would continue to maintain vigilance and monitor the situation closely.
