Indian PM keeps open option of accepting third term

manmohanNEW DELHI, April 16 – Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday kept open the option of accepting a third term but ruled out early elections, asserting that the government would complete its five-year term ending in May next year, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

“I still have some time to complete my present term,” he replied when asked during an NDTV (New Delhi Television Limited) event here whether he would accept a third term if asked.

To another question, Manmohan said he described the Prime Ministership of this vast country as “a great honour” and his effort has been increased to meet the high expectations of the people.

Manmohan, who is currently serving the second term, has been the Indian Prime Minister for nine years.
