UALA LUMPUR, JUNE 12- DAP has accepted Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa’s apology for defying an opposition decision to boycott yesterday’s parliamentary briefing.
Party whip Anthony Loke said Er would not be referred to the DAP disciplinary committee but would receive a “stern warning” against future displays of disobedience.
“It was serious disciplinary breach, but after consulting party adviser Lim Kit Siang, we decided to just issue a warning in view of Er’s written explanation and apology,” Loke said in a press statement.
The boycott call was issued by the Pakatan Rakyat leadership.
Er told reporters yesterday he was aware of the boycott, but decided to attend the briefing anyway to acquaint himself with guidlelines for the new parliament session.
Hours later, he issued an apology and said he was prepared to face action from DAP.
In his statement, Loke urged party members to adhere always to collective decisions by the leadership.
“Let this be a lesson to all of us to always follow party directives in discharging our duties,” he said.
