GEORGE TOWN, June 28- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah yesterday visited former Kedah Menteri Besar Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak who is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Penang General Hospital (HPP).
The King arrived at the hospital at about 4.20pm and spent about 10 minutes visiting Azizan at the ICU ward.
Meanwhile, Afif said Azizan was in stable condition and was being given the best treatment.
“Azizan’s health is improving well following treatment but he could not be discharged in the immediate future,” he said.
Azizan, 69, who is also the Kedah State Assemblyman for Sungai Limau, had both his legs amputated in early May following complications due to diabetes.
He was transferred to HPP on May 8 from the Kedah Medical Centre after being treated for viral infection on his feet two days earlier.
Azizan, who is also the Kedah PAS commissioner, had to relinquish his post as Kedah Menteri Besar following the defeat of the opposition pact to the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election on May 5.
BN won 21 of the 36 Kedah State Assembly seats and obtained a simple majority to form the new state government.
