JOHOR BAHARU, June 29- A royal family member and two others were sentenced to four years’ jail each by the Sessions Court here yesterday for voluntarily causing hurt to national boxer Muhammad Farkha Mohd Haron two years ago.
Tunku Nick Tazuddin Izwan Syah Tunku Qadir, 28, Alex Foo Hee Wee, 42, and Mohd Arif Husin, 36, were found guilty of jointly committing the offence with a blunt weapon, at Jalan Molek 3/2, Taman Molek here between 4.30 am and 7 am on May 6, 2012.
Judge Zamri Bakar in his ruling said the prosecution succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against the trio.
Deputy public prosecutor Dzul Iswari Mohd Jaafar appeared for the prosecution while the trio were represented by counsel Norman Fernandez, Mohd Abdul Kadir, Zamri Idros and Mazri Muhamad.
Earlier, Muhammad Farkhan, 25, had been called to give a Victim Impact Statement on the incident.
The judge also rejected an application by the defence for a stay of the custodial sentence and ordered the trio to serve their terms from yesterday.
