CYBERJAYA, Feb 7- The younger generation in this country is very fortunate to be in a peaceful nation, said the Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Rosmah Mansor.
She said such harmony could not be felt in countries stricken by war and continuous strife.
“We should be grateful to be in a peaceful and prosperous country. In the trip to Gaza with the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, I was saddened with the situation there.
“They do not know what will happen tomorrow, there is no assurance for their lives. Parents are always worried with the safety of their children. Schools are dilipidated while universities are scared by bombings. We here are safe and peaceful,” she said when hosting a dinner for Universiti Lim Kok Wing Generasi Global Felda programe students here today. One hundred children of Felda settlers were selected to participate in the programme sponsored jointly by Felda and Universiti Limkokwing from Sept 24 last year to Jan 18 this year.
She said the younger generation should be proud of the government for being so caring and committed in ensuring the quality and standard education in the country. According to her, the government took various proactive measures and continuous initiatives to empower the national education system since the nation achieved independence. She said among the efforts included the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) to finance education with loans and various scholarships.
She explained that capability of the younger generation would reflect on the strength of the country’s leadership. “Remember that for every success and victory, there is a sacrifice and a path of challenges which should be boldly confronted,” she said.
Also present were the university’s associate vice president of Creativity and Talent Development Datuk Tiffanee Lim and Corporate Affairs and Student Relations senior vice president, Datuk Fajura Mohd Mustafa Kamal.
