New Tamil daily to hit newsstands tomorrow

According to its managing director SM Periasamy, Tamil Malar will be launched in Klang Valley tomorrow and it will go nationwide startingAug 18

Periasamy who is also the executive editor said that the company located at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur would print 5,000 copies daily and 10,000 copies on Sundays for a start.

“Tamil Malar was founded by prominent Indian philanthropist NTS Arumugam Pillay in the 60′s,” Periasamy told FMT.

“Now, we are planning to bring back the daily with unique contents and latest format for all levels of the Indian society,” he added. Known for its high quality contents, the daily was folded down in the 1980s.

Periasamy said that the new Tamil Malar will carry the same quality of the old paper by publishing news with a course.

He further said that Tamil Malar will be the only Tamil daily which will incorporate a “business supplement” for the Indian community.

Periasamy has been in the media industry for more than 30 years. In recent weeks, he had faced deaths threats and assaults over his work to launch Tamil Malar. He was the former general manager of Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai.
