KUALA LUMPUR, AUG 2- Hindraf is publishing a report card to inform the rakyat of its achievements for the Indian community in the Barisan Nasional government.
In a press statement today, Hindraf national advisor N Ganesan said the report card will be published on Sept 12, 2013 as a payback to the poor and marginalised Indians.
Sept 12 would also mark 100 days of Hindraf chairperson P Waythamoorthy as a senator and a deputy minister in charge of Indian affairs.
“We, who represent the poor and marginalised Indian on whose behalf we signed the agreement (with BN), are preparing to submit the first of our public reports to the people whom we represent,” he said.
“To assist the people in understanding our role, we are obliged to report the status and performance of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) periodically back to the people,” Ganesan said.
The MoU signed between Barisan Nasional and Hindraf just before the May general election includes a five-year blueprint to bring the poor Malaysian Indian into the mainstream national development, to boost their standard of living.
Following the MoU, Hindraf had urged the Indian community to back the BN in the GE. Previously Hindraf was known for their hard anti-BN stand.
Ganesan added that the document will report on the challenges faced and accomplishments in that 100-day period.
“The report will put to rest any speculations on the progress of the blueprint among the general public. This will ensure that the public gets the correct information, empowering the rakyat to hold the agreement partners accountable for their commitments,” he added.
