AUG 5- Madhuri Dixit has taken on an action avatar in her forthcoming film Gulab Gang , produced by Anubhav Sinha.
Always known as a dancing diva, Madhuri surprised fans by doing some heavy- duty stunts in the first look of the film released recently.
” This is the first time that Madhuri has taken up an action role. She has been working hard to do most of the stunts without using a double,” a source from the film’s unit said.
Madhuri plays a character called Rajjo, who forms a group of women vigilante and activists dressed in pink sarees, fighting against injustice in Bundelkhand region.
” She has worked with a team of professionals with whom she has learnt kick- boxing and high kicks moves for the film,” the source added. Madhuri has also undergone training to fight using some rustic weapon. She trained under Shaolin master Shifu Kanishka Sharma for the role. Scripted by Anubhav Sinha and Soumik Sen, the film is a directorial debut of Soumik.
The all- woman’s action- thriller musical, is loosely based on social activist Sampat Pal. It also casts Juhi Chawla, Mahie Gill, Shilpa Shukla, Tannistha Chatterjee and Priyanka Bose.
