KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is optimistic over its car sales rebounding in the second half of the year, said Kai Schlickum, its Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“There was a lot of uncertainty in the first half of the year with talk of a price reduction for cars, but that is now out of the way.

“It has been clearly communicated that the reduction is not going to happen and a lot of customer have regained their decision making confidence.

MercedesBenzLogo“We have high hopes that this will help us achieve our sales target,” he said after launching two Mercedes-Benz E-Class models, the E200 Avantgarde and E 250 Avantgarde here today.

For the first half of 2013, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sold a total of 2,273 passenger vehicles with the C and E class segments remaining the main volume contributors.

Schlickum said both the newly launched completely knocked down (CKD) models are being assembled at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s production plant in Pekan, Pahang.

“In the fourth quarter, we will launch another E-Class model, the E-400,” he added.

The two new models combine a host of comfort and safety features, including systems that can help prevent accidents with crossing vehicles or pedestrians, as well as anti-glare continuous high-beam headlamps.

The Mercedes-Benz E200 Avantgarde is priced at RM366,888, while the E250 Avantgarde is selling for RM405,888.
