KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30- The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13) is expected to attract more than 330,000 visitors, up from a turnout of 300,000 in 2010.

Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), KLIMS13 will be held from Nov 15-24 at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

kuala-lumpur-international-motor-show-2013MAA President Datuk Aishah Ahmad said the association was confident of attracting more visitors this year driven by aggressive promotion campaigns and advertising.

She said some 50 exhibitors would participate in the event including 31 accessories companies.

“Last year we had 47 exhibitors that participated in the event and we are also looking at more participation from other companies,” she told reporters after the signing ceremony between MAA, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd, here on Thursday.

Aishah said Maybank was appointed as the Official Financier of KLIMS13, adding this was not the first time that Maybank became the official financier.

As the Official Financier, Maybank will offer complimentary tickets to visit the show for selected Maybank high networth and affluent banking customers as well as Maybankard and Amex cardholders.

Volkswagen, on the other hand, will be sponsoring the marque’s Beetle for one of Maybank’s lucky customers visiting the show.

Earlier, MAA announced the partnership with AirAsia Bhd to roll out a KLIMS13 low-fare promotion to draw visitors from the regions within Malaysia and overseas, and giving them a chance to win free air tickets.

“More importantly we do not just want to draw motoring enthusiasts for KLIMS13, we would like to attract car buyers as well as the affluent segment of the market.

“The automotive industry in Malaysia that has slowed down somewhat during the country’s general election is now heating up again.

“Consumers are now gearing up in anticipation of new car launches,” said Aishah.
