KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26- Candidates vying for seats in Umno Supreme Council and executive council of its three wings will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the voting delegates at the candidate introduction sessions early next month.
Umno executive secretary Datuk Abdul Rauf Yusoh the schedule for the sessions had been distributed to all state Umno liaison committees.
“It is to ease the process for the candidates to introduce themselves…they can do so at the sessions to be jointly-organised by Umno headquarters and state Umno liaison committees.
“So, these are the sessions approved by the Umno Disciplinary Board for the candidates to introduce themselves.”
Abdul Rauf said this to reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre here today after the announcement of the final list of candidates contesting in Umno polls next month.
The sessions will begin in the northern states of the peninsula, with Perlis at 9.30 am, Kedah (3.30 pm) and Penang (8.30 pm) on Oct 1.
The sessions will continue in Perak at 9.30 pm, Selangor (3.30 pm) and Federal Territories (8.30 pm) on Oct 4.
On Oct 6, the sessions are scheduled to be held in Kelantan (9.30 am), Terengganu (3.30 pm) and Pahang (9 pm), while on Oct 8, in Melaka (3.30 pm), Johor (8.30 pm) and Negeri Sembilan (9.30 pm).
In Sabah, the session will be held at 3.30 pm on Oct 9.
A total of 260 candidates are contesting for posts at the central level.
The elections for the Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri Umno will be held simultaneously on Oct 12, while the election for Supreme Council seats is scheduled for Oct 19.
