DSCN7889MAKKAH, Oct 5- More than 19,000 of the total 22,320 Malaysian haj pilgrims for this year are now in Makkah and waiting for Wukuf Day which falls on Oct 14.

Tabung Haji media operations director Anis Zuhani Ahmad said so far, 57 haj flights had arrived from Malaysia, with another seven flights to arrive in stages until Oct 9.

Speaking to reporters here today, he said, Tabung Haji had eight maktab in Makkah to accommodate the 22,320 pilgrims this season, a drop of 20 per cent following the reduction in haj quota by the Saudi Arabian government.

After performing the haj pilgrimage, Malaysian pilgrims who came directly to Makkah would be taken to visit Medina, from Oct 26 and they would be there for eight days before their return flight to Malaysia.

“The maktab in Medina will be operational again from Oct 26 to cater for the pilgrims who entered through Makkah,” he added.
