NUSA DUA (Bali), Oct 5- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has received a telephone call from US President Barrack Obama that he will not be attending the 2013 Apec Summit scheduled here on Oct 7 and 8.
The notification came two days after Obama phoned Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak to inform him of a postponement in his visit to Malaysia following the closure of a section of the country’s administration.
In the latest development on Friday, Obama informed the Indonesian president that he regretted being unable to attend the summit as the debate on US budget estimates was still on going, said the Indonesian President’s International Relations special aide Teuku Faizasyah in a statement here.
Following the development, the US will be represented by Secretary of State John Kerry at the Apec Summit.
Teuku Faizasyah said Yudhoyono understood the situation as the Indonesian leader had also been keeping abreast of current developments in the US.
