New Delhi, Oct 10 – India and Japan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to undertake a joint feasibility study of High Speed Railway system in India.
The objective of the joint study is to prepare a feasibility report of High Speed Railway system on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route with speed of 300-350kmph. The cost of the study will be shared 50:50 between India and Japan, Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
The MOU was signed by The Japan International Cooperation Agency’s Director South Asia Division, Katsuo Matsumoto and Adviser Infrastructure, Ministry of Railways, Girish Pillai.
According to the statement, the study shall be completed within 18 months from its commencement. Among others, the study would do traffic forecasting, alignment surveys and undertake comparative Study of High Speed Railway Technology and System, said the ministry.
