KLANG — Consuming ‘madu kelulut’ (honey from stingless bee) and doing light exercise on a daily basis are Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni’s secret to maintain his stamina during the campaign rounds for the Sungai Kandis state by-election.
Describing the hectic campaign schedule as a normal thing, the 48-year-old PKR candidate who has been actively involved with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for the past 10 years said, consuming food supplements was important as it could help him to stay fit in his efforts to reach out to voters in the constituency.
“I consume a tablespoon of the honey which is mixed with some secret ingredients every morning and before bed in order to maintain my stamina,” he told reporters after closing the ‘Insan Selangor’ programme today.
The programme which was held at a hotel here was the fifth programme he attended on the first day of campaign for the by-election.
Asked on the voters’ response, Mohd Zawawi said he received a very positive feedback with many of the people in Sungai Kandis wanted him to continue the agenda which had been brought by the late Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei.
Mohd Zawawi said his campaign would also focus on efforts to better understand the needs of the people in the constituency.
On his family reaction towards his candidacy, the principal of Maahad Tahfiz Al Fateh Jalan Kebun said his wife and children had always given him their full support in whatever he decided to do.
“During my active involvement in NGO activities, I was rarely at home as I spent most of my time with the people but being a self-employed makes it easier for me to make time for my family,” he added.
The Sungai Kandis seat became vacant after the assemblyman, Mat Shuhaimi of PKR, died of lymphoma cancer on July 2.
Polling for the by-election is on Aug 4.
Mohd Zawawi will face Datuk Lokman Noor Adam of Barisan Nasional and Independent candidate K. Murthy.
