“We have listed 17 matters to be continued in the NBOS. Now that Datuk Seri Hishammuddin (Tun Hussein) and I have exchanged portfolios, it will be easier to implement this initiative,” he told reporters at a farewell ceremony for him as the former defence minister, here.
Also present were former Defence Minister Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad, ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Ismail Ahmad and the commanders of all the three services of the armed forces.
The NBOS is a government initiative to enhance the public delivery system through cooperation among the ministries, departments and agencies by focusing on high-impact results, minimum costs and speedy implementation.
Ahmad Zahid said: ”I’m confident the new leadership will continue to achieve excellence. We achieved a 109 per cent Key Performance Indicator with a five-star rating, in less than four years.”
“I’m confident this cooperation will proceed smoothly as Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid and I have worked closely on the National Key Results Area (NKRA) for crime and the Lahad Datu (terrorist) incident,” he told reporters. Hishammuddin, who is the former home minister, was accorded a farewell at a function also attended by former Deputy Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong.
“I’m confident the new minister will strengthen what we have built. I will also be taking a few useful points to my new ministry,” said Hishammuddin.
