KUALA LUMPUR, July 2- PKR will support PAS to put up its candidate to stand in the upcoming Kuala Besut state seat by-election.
PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, met at the Parliament lobby here today, said this was agreed upon unanimously by the PKR leadership yesterday.
This was in stark contrast to the statement by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday, suggesting that Kuala Besut PAS boycott the by-election as a sign of protesting the Election Commission’s (EC) “dirty tactics” during the recent 13th General Election (GE).
Commenting on Lim’s statement, Mohamed Azmin said: “That is a personal view and he will propose to the Pakatan Council…we will hear his reasons.”
The Kuala Besut by-election has to be called, following the death of its state assemblyman, Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar, 55, last Wednesday.
The EC will hold a special meeting on Friday (July 5) to set the date for the by-election.
In the recent GE, A. Rahman defeated Napisah Ismail from PAS with a 2,434-vote majority.
