KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 – Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has bagged the Fixed Broadband Service Provider of the Year award at the 2013 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards held in Singapore.
In a statement Monday, TM said the win marked the company’s second year running as the winner of the coveted award at the regional front.
Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst – Telecom Sector, Asia-Pacific ICT Practice, Serene Chan, said TM has achieved remarkable growth in financial year 2012 as its broadband subscriber base grew year-on-year by 7.4 per cent to reach 2.1 million.
“TM has maintained its broadband leadership position with a market share of 89.1 per cent.
“Streamyx in particular is the preferred fixed broadband service among households in Malaysia with 1.3 million residential subscribers,” she said.
TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, said the passion and teamsork of TM’s 27,000 staff had elevated the company to become Malaysia’s Broadband Champion.
The Frost & Sullivan Awards were presented to companies that demonstrate best practices in their industry, commending the diligence, commitment, and innovative business strategies required to advance in the global marketplace.
