KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 2- The Election Court here has rejected with costs the petitions by PAS to declare the 13th general election (GE13) results for the Kuala Berang and Hulu Besut state seats won by the Barisan Nasional (BN) as null and void.
Judge Datuk Seri Mariana Yahya rejected the petitions on grounds that the petitioners failed to comply with Regulation 9 of the Election Petition Rules 1954.
The judge ordered the petitioner for Kuala Berang result to pay RM50,000 to Kuala Berang assemblyman Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang and RM50,000 each to the returning officer and the Election Commission.
She also ordered the petitioner for the Hulu Besut result to pay RM50,000 to Hulu Besut assemblyman Nawi Mohamad.
Tengku Putera beat PAS’ Muhyidin Abdul Rashid in Kuala Berang with a 449-vote majority while Nawi defeated PAS’ Shalahhudin Jaafar in Hulu Besut with a 1,570-vote majority.
