AUG 13- Veteran comedian Goundamani, who had been on a sabbatical for the last few years, is playing the lead role in an upcoming film.
Confirms the actor, “Yes, I’ll be playing the lead in a film titled 49O, which will be directed by Arokiadoss, a former assistant of Gautham Vasudev Menon.” Says the director, “Goundamani sir plays a farmer in the film, which will be a political satire.
I wouldn’t call his character the hero but as the protagonist around whom the story revolves.” The film will also address the issues faced by present-day farmers.
“We are content to label him as a great comedian but Goundamani sir is actually a great actor.
He was impressed with this story and said that in his career spanning 600-odd films he has never played a farmer,” says Arokiadoss.
We hear actors Somasundaram (of Aaranya Kaandam fame), Sathyan and VTV Ganesh have been roped in for supporting roles.
KV Anand’s assistant Balu will crank the camera while Rueben has been signed on as the editor.
The movie will be shot in and around Thiruvannamalai by the last week of September or the first week of October.
