Online Entrepeneurs can enjoy assistance in form of grants, says PUIM

KOTA BAHARU, Aug 14 – The Malaysian Internet Entrepreneurs Association (PUIM) will assist online entrepreneurs throughout the country to develop their respective businesses by providing assistance in the form of advice and grants.

Its President, Mohd Azrul Mohd Nor said the vast online business opportunities, need to be fully utilised by entrepreneurs in the country.”The 18,866 online entrepreneurs registered with PUIM to date can enjoy grants up to RM100,000,” he added.He said this when met at the “Slot Sembang Santai PUIM” with MARAentrepreneurs here yesterday.

Mohd Azrul said PUIM will act as an intermediary to identify the problems faced by grassroots online entrepreneurs and strive to find solutions in respect of marketing their businesses.He said the grants are the result of cooperation between the PUIM and a number of other parties, including the Multimedia Development Corporation, the
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), SME Corporation and SME Bank.

Online entrepreneurs, he added, have also an opportunity to obtain grants and loans directly from MARA and SME Bank to undertake their businesses.PUIM is also making available the Geran ECOMM, E-Payment Gateway as well as the Online Shop to be opened soon to assist eligible entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the PUIM programme yesterday was attended by more than 100 participants, comprising online entrepreneurs in Kelantan.A participant, Azham Abdul Rahman, 22, said the presence of internet technology was very useful as a marketing tool in the clothing industry which he was part of.

“But there is no one providing oversight or coordinating it on a systematic basis.”With the presence of PUIM, all entrepreneurs can share their experiences at meetings. This is alongside having the services of a qualified facilitator from PUIM, as well as receiving grants to expand businesses,” he added.
