Flipkart launches 5 Intel-powered tablets, price starts at Rs 5,999

digiflip-pro-xt811New Delhi, August 28 – Flipkart last month launched its first tablet — Digiflip Pro — powered by MediaTek processor. On Wednesday, the e-retailer added 5 more tablets to its portfolio. But these new tablets are powered by Intel’s Atom chipsets.

Micheal Adani, VP for Flipkart’s retail and brand alliances said, “After the success of Digiflip Pro XT712, the first tablet to be launched under the Digiflip Pro label, we are excited to announce the launch of five new tablets today.

We are happy to collaborate with Intel on this range and are confident that these new tablets will set standards in the Indian tablet market with their world class quality and great value.”

Starting at Rs 5,999, the tablets come in a variety of sizes with voice calling feature or just Wi-Fi. All tablets run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablets use stock Android users interface and Flipkart is promising an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.  Flipkart has preloaded its app so that users. The Google Play store has also been preloaded.

The ET701, which costs Rs 5,999 is a Wi-Fi-only model. It has a 7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. It is powered by the Intel Atom Z2520 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz.

big-intelIt has 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, which is expandable using a microSD card, and has a 2,800mAh battery. There’s a VGA camera on the front and a 2-megapixel camera on the back. It’s offered in four colours.

The XT 811/801 is a tablet with 8-inch screen. It has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. this tablet is powered by the dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor clocked at 2GHz. It also has 1GB RAM.

There is 16GB of internal storage coupled with a microSD card. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel camera and the back houses a 5-megapixel camera. It has a 4,200mAh battery. The XT811 supports voice calls over cellular network. It costs Rs 10,999, while XT801, which is Wi-Fi-only, costs Rs  8,999.

The XT911/901 model has a 9-inch screen with FullHD (1080P) resolution. Like the 8-inch XT811/801 , it is powered by the Intel Atom Z2580 dual-processor clocked at 2GHz.

It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, support for a microSD card, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera and 6500mAh battery. The XT911 model, which offers voice calling and 3G costs Rs 15,999 and the XT901 Wi-Fi only model costs Rs 13,999.

flipkart-digiflipNotably, this is the second retailer Intel has partnered with in the last two months to launch tablets based on its processors. Earlier, the company had tied up with Croma to launch Windows 8 tablets.

“Intel always strives to bring to consumers the best of computing technology, across form-factors at competitive price points. We are excited to work with Flipkart to launch these five new tablets, powered by Intel processors,” said Sandeep Aurora, director of marketing for Intel South Asia.

On paper these five tablets appear to offer good value. They appear to be well-equipped though branding could be an issue. That said, for the price, these tablets do offer compelling features.
