New delhi, December 22 – As expected Aamir Khan starrer PK is doing wonders at the box-office. The movie has collected Rs.92.50 crore during the first three days of its release, according to boxofficeindia.com. The Rajkumar Hirani flick grossed Rs.26 crore net on Friday, Rs.29.50 crore on Saturday and Rs.37 crore on Sunday. PK released on 19 December 2014.
Boxofficeindia.com reports, “the business is being driven by multiplexes with multiplex to single screen ratio much higher when compared to other big blockbusters. The trend of the film is phenomenal with a Rs.11 crore nett gain on Sunday from Friday.”
“The mass centres were excellent on Sunday and if this continues it will post a huge lifetime total, possibly the biggest ever,” it adds. The socio-comedy-drama is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, produced by Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Siddharth Roy Kapur, and written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi.
RajKumar Hirani-Aamir Khan-Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s earlier collaboration Three Idiots has the distinction of collecting over Rs.200 crore (nett) in the domestic market, when released five years ago.
PK narrates the story of an alien’s search for his remote on earth played by Aamir Khan. The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla, and Sanjay Dutt in supporting roles.
