KUALA LUMPUR, June 26- Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir (photo) yesterday night proposed the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology in various aspects of the socio-political and socio-economic spheres of the country.
He said AHP stands on a solid mathematical foundation and it could easily accommodate qualitative factors through pairwise comparisons which certain criteria can be used on decision-making namely charisma, humility, integrity, nation building, people management, leadership, experience and many more.
“In Malaysia, there are many potential areas where AHP can be applied, for example selection of contractors for various government projects, project prioritization, site selection of various project and so on.
“In fact, in the present government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) there are numerous projects where AHP can be employed,” he said at the Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony of the 12th International Symposium on AHP here.
Thus, he encouraged AHP practitioners to promote the methodology among key personnel of the general population as it has the potential to make Malaysia a better place via good decision-making tools.
Zambry also encouraged politicians to listen to the AHP researchers in analysing election outcomes.
