Kuala Lumpur, July 28 – There were widespread disappointments in MIC circles when the new cabinet line-up was announced today afternoon by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
While Palanivel’s removal was expected, he was not replaced by any representative from MIC.
However, MIC sources pointed out that the appointment of second minister has been deferred due to MIC elections currently taking place. The nominations for Presidential election will be held on the 21st of August 2015 and the divisional elections are expected to take place in September and the national level elections will be held in October 2015.
MIC sources said that the Prime Minister may have deferred the appointment of second minister because such an appointment might influence the outcome of the party elections.
Once the election process is over, MIC is likely to get back its second ministerial position, probably in October.
MIC sources also said that the second minister from MIC is likely to be the person who will be able to win as the Deputy President of the party in the forthcoming party elections.
