ESSCOM should use latest digital technology – Mubarak

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 – The government needs to use the latest digital technology in the implementation of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) in order maintain effective surveillance along the 1,400 km shoreline in the east coast of Sabah.

Council of Former Elected Representatives of Malaysia (Mubarak) president Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Rahman(Pic) said the use of digital technology such as digital surveillance system could enhance vigil to ensure that the border areas impregnable to invasion.

“I believe ESSCOM will strengthen vigilance along the border in Sabah, but it requires a central command that operates digitally using the latest digital technology.

aziz“I also believe security command like ESSCOM should be implemented along the border with Thailand and Kalimantan,” he told reporters after donating RM14,697 to the Media Prima Lahad Datu Heroes Fund to Media Prima chief executive officer Datuk Zainul Arifin Mohammed Isa here today.

On the donation, Abdul Aziz said RM10,000 was proceeds from the sale of the book ‘100 Wira Negara’ while the remainder was a contribution from Mubarak members.

“The book narrates the sacrifices made by national heroes. We are seeking the cooperation of the Education Ministry to distribute the book in schools to enable young people to appreciate history and the contribution made by national heroes,” he said.
