KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 – Two tunnel boring machines which arrived from Germany in January will start work on the Mass Rail Transit (MRT) project in May. Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the boring work under Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT project will start in Jalan Cochrane, Jalan Duta and Jalan Semantan.
“The machines will dig a tunnel from Jalan Cochrane and Kampung Pandan to Pasar Rakyat located in the vicinity of Tun Razak Exchange.
“With the advanced machines, we expect to accelerate construction of the MRT project and reduce traffic congestion,” he told reporters after visiting the site at Pasar Rakyat here today.
