Anwa NajibPASIR MAS: PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim has accused Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Tun Razak of stealing ideas from Pakatan Rakyat’s manifesto to be used in BN’s manifesto which was unveiled yesterday.

“Where did they get their ideas from? Car prices to come down…taxi drivers to be given permits…Only now they are aware of such problems?” asked Anwar during a ceramah in Jeli, Kelantan last night.

“If Najib believes that taxi permits should be given to individual taxi drivers, why did BN had to wait for 50 years?” he asked in the ceramah that was attended by about 10,000 people, according to Keadilan Daily.

He added that BN’s manifesto had various aspects which had been covered by Pakatan in its manifesto which was released on Feb 27. The Pakatan manifesto was roundly criticised by BN leaders over what they claimed was a blueprint to bankrupt the nation.

Among the main points from the Pakatan manifesto which was also seen in the BN manifesto was the promise to reduce car prices.

Pakatan had promoted its campaign to reduce car prices as one of the main planks in its manifesto.

Anwar also said that Najib’s manifesto was only catered to be an election sweetener to get the votes for the general election.

“He will not implement what he has stated in the manifesto,” he told the crowd.

Misusing RTM

Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, PAS too hit out at Najib and BN for copying at least nine issues from the Pakatan manifesto.

PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali told a press conference today that among them was the BN promise to continue special cash payments and development and operational funding exceeding 20% of oil and gas revenue to Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang.

Mustafa said this was in spirit what was promised by Pakatan, that is to increase the oil royalty from 5% to 20% to these oil producing states.

“BN may have used different words but in principle, the policy is the same as that is being promised by Pakatan,” he said, as quoted by Harakah Daily.

He also hit out at BN for abusing state agency RTM for showing the launch of BN manifesto live on state television station.

“We were promised 10 minutes to pre-record our manifesto but Najib had more than two hours of live show to reveal his,” he said.
