BN ALOR SETAR, April 18– Fielding a mix of old and new faces for the state and parliamentary seats, the Barisan Nasional (BN) line-up is fired-up to recapture Kedah in the 13th general election.

State BN deputy chairman Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir said although 50 per cent of the candidates were newcomers, the Kedah BN also retained old faces, whose services were still invaluable, to serve the people.

“We are confident that the mix is a winning combination and we can give a tough fight to the opposition – thanks to a positive response from the people,” he told reporters after the launch of an additional BN manifesto or pledge for the state here today.

The manifesto was unveiled by Kedah BN chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.

Mukhriz said the manifesto was not merely a proposal but an undertaking, which had been endorsed by the federal government for implementation, if the BN were to recapture the state.

On his candidacy for the Ayer Hitam state seat, Mukhriz said the BN was confident of wresting the seat from incumbent Abd Ghani Ahmad, a state executive councillor from PAS, besides retaining the Kota Siputeh state seat and the Jerlun parliamentary constituency.

Generally, voters in Ayer Hitam and Kota Siputeh under the Jerlun parliamentary constituency are unhappy with Abd Ghani’s poor leadership, said Muhkriz.
