Kuala Lumpur: On behalf of the NESA Cooperative Board of Directors, Dato Shashi Kumar Palaniappan, the chairman of the NESA Board of Directors, extended his felicitations to Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and conveyed the board’s collective pride in Ramanan’s victory as the second Vice President at the recently concluded PKR party elections.
“This significant achievement bodes well for the future of the cooperative movement in our country, filling us with optimism” Shashi Kumar said in a press statement.

Ramanan, the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives, recently secured a significant victory by clinching the second spot in the keenly fought contest for the post of Vice President in the PKR elections.
“Ramanan’s election as Vice President of the PKR party, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who heads the governing Madani Unity Government, is a significant development. We believe this new position will greatly enhance the services that Ramanan has been providing to the cooperative sector, especially the Indian cooperatives in this country,” Shashi Kumar said in his press statement.
“Since assuming the position of Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Datuk Seri Ramanan has worked closely and collaborated with cooperatives operating in Malaysia and has sought solutions to various issues. In particular, he has organised special conventions for the Indian cooperative movement in an effort to establish direct communications with Indian cooperatives. He has also assisted by providing government grants to cooperatives that have performed excellently,” Shashi Kumar noted in his press statement.
“Besides the cooperative sector, Datuk Seri Ramanan has also helped entrepreneurs, especially Indian entrepreneurs and small traders, through programs such as Bank Rakyat loan assistance schemes”, Shashi Kumar pointed out.
“Cooperatives play an important role in the nation’s economic strength and development. Moreover, Indian Community cooperatives play a major role in maintaining the percentage of property ownership of the Indian community. In this situation, Datuk Seri Ramanan’s role as Deputy Minister of Cooperatives and Vice-President of PKR, the main party of the governing government, will provide him with the strength to continue improving the cooperative sector, especially the interests of Indian Community cooperatives. We also hope that Datuk Seri Ramanan will continue to provide excellent services to the entrepreneurial community and cooperative sector in his capacity as Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives,” Shashi Kumar further noted in his press statement.
